Azerbaijan and China Strengthen Ties in Crime Prevention

Baku: Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev recently met with Lu Mei, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Azerbaijan, as reported by the Prosecutor General's Office to APA. The meeting underscored the strengthening cooperation between Azerbaijan and China in combating crime, marking a significant step in the partnership between the two nations.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Prosecutor General Aliyev highlighted the longstanding friendly relations and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and China, particularly in the realm of law enforcement. He acknowledged China's support for Azerbaijan's initiatives on international platforms, emphasizing the dynamic evolution of bilateral ties into a comprehensive strategic partnership. This development is attributed to the political will and frequent interactions between the leaders of the two countries.

The meeting also highlighted President Ilham Aliyev's two visits to China in 2025, alongside the signing of the 'Joint Statement on the Establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People's Republic of China' with Chinese President Xi Jinping in April 2025. These events were highlighted as key milestones in the partnership between Azerbaijan and China.

Officials noted that the robust interstate relations have positively influenced the cooperation between the prosecutor's offices of both countries, fostering an environment conducive to the exchange of expertise and collaboration on issues of shared interest. The meeting in April 2025 in Shanghai with Ying Yong, Chief Grand Prosecutor and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China, was recognized for significantly enhancing inter-agency relations.

The discussions between the Azerbaijani and Chinese officials focused on combating various forms of crime, exploring practical cooperation, and expanding legal and institutional ties. An agreement was reached to further collaborate in these areas, reinforcing the commitment to address mutual concerns.

Ambassador Lu Mei expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reiterated China's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, emphasizing the continued successful development of ties between the two countries.
