Prosecutor General’s Office Reports 73 Fatalities and 363 Injuries from Mine Explosions Post-Patriotic War

Baku: 'We regret to state that incidents resulting in deaths and injuries due to mine explosions in the territories liberated from occupation continue to occur. The Prosecutor General's Office, jointly with the relevant state bodies, takes the necessary measures regarding each such incident and regularly informs the public,' APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this statement was released by the Prosecutor General's Office concerning individuals affected by mine explosions. Since the end of the Patriotic War on November 10, 2020, a total of 436 individuals have been impacted by mines left in Azerbaijan's territories, which were previously occupied by Armenia. Out of these, 73 individuals have lost their lives, and 363 have sustained injuries of varying severity.

The Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan is conducting investigations into each mine-related incident, adhering to legislative requirements. These investigations aim to determine the circumstances surrounding each explosion, including their causes and conditions.

The elimination of the mine threat is crucial for ensuring the safety of people in the liberated territories, facilitating the restoration of these areas, and supporting sustainable resettlement efforts. Authorities have urged citizens and travelers to use only designated safe routes and to comply strictly with warning signs and recommendations from relevant state authorities.
