Baku: Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samaddin Asadov met with a delegation from CITIC Group, one of China's largest state-owned enterprises, led by Vice President Benjamin Bao. The meeting focused on discussing the development of an artificial intelligence computing platform in Baku, which is projected to have an initial capacity of up to 1 GW and will be developed in phases.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the discussions included the potential partnership role of CITIC Group in financing, constructing, and installing the platform. The meeting also explored collaboration opportunities between AZCON Holding and CITIC Group in various sectors such as transport, communications, and the National Artificial Intelligence Center. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to enhance Baku's digital economy and build robust international strategic alliances.

CITIC Group, with a vast portfolio spanning banking, non-bank financial services, industrial manufacturing, advanced materials, and new urbanization, holds total assets worth approximately USD 1.5 trillion. The potential collaboration on the AI computing platform underscores the company's commitment to expanding its influence and fostering technological advancements in Azerbaijan.
