Zagreb: A study tour titled “Data Protection Practices” was organized in Zagreb, Croatia, under the Promotion of Media Professionalism and Freedom of Information in Azerbaijan (PRO-M-FEX) project. The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan informed APA-Economics about this collaborative initiative.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the tour included representatives from the Ministries of Digital Development and Transport, Justice and Foreign Affairs, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman), the State Agency for Citizen Service and Social Innovations under the President, the Center for Legal Expertise and Legislative Initiatives, and various civil society organizations.
The participants shared insights on Azerbaijan’s efforts under the ‘Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Information Security and Cybersecurity for 2023-2027’. They also discussed the ‘Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Approval of the ‘Digital Development Concept in the Republic of Azerbaijan’ and the ‘Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Artificial Intelligence for 2025-2028’. Key areas of focus included information security, cybersecurity, data processing and protection, and artificial intelligence.
Experts from the Croatian Agency for Personal Data Protection (AZOP) presented their theoretical and practical experiences, detailing the agency’s activities, authority, and enforcement measures. The discussions included Croatia’s application of the European Union’s ‘General Data Protection Regulation’ (GDPR) and the 108+ Convention.
The Azerbaijani delegation also visited Croatia’s Ministry of Justice, Public Administration, and Digital Transformation to further exchange knowledge and practices.
