Baku: Discussions about constructing a strategic railroad line that will connect the East Zangezur Economic Region with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic via Iran have been held by Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, and his Iranian counterpart, Jabbar Ali Zakeri. This project aims to enhance land connectivity and is part of broader efforts to strengthen cooperation along the North-South corridor.

According to Trend News Agency, the discussions occurred during an official visit by Rustamov to Iran. The meeting highlighted the ongoing efforts and future plans of Azerbaijan Railways to develop this crucial infrastructure link. “The topic of our discussions was the construction of a railroad line, which will provide a direct land connection between the East Zangezur Economic Region and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan through Iran, as well as strengthening cooperation on the North-South corridor,” Rustamov shared in a statement on X.
