Baku: The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, welcomed a delegation led by National Armaments Director of the Italian Ministry of Defense, Admiral Giacinto Ottaviani, on July 9. The meeting, reported by the Ministry of Defense to APA, focused on discussions around enhancing defense cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov praised the existing defense relations between the two nations, highlighting their foundation on a strategic partnership. He noted the importance of Azerbaijan-Italy relations across various sectors, including military collaboration.

Admiral Giacinto Ottaviani expressed gratitude for the warm reception afforded to the Italian delegation and underscored the importance of mutual visits and the exchange of experiences. The Italian Admiral conveyed his confidence that the military cooperation between the two countries would significantly bolster the defense capabilities of both Azerbaijan and Italy.

The session was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic, Luca Di Gianfrancesco. Participants exchanged views on shared interests in military affairs, military-technical cooperation, and military education, further solidifying the alliance between Azerbaijan and Italy.
