Azerbaijan and Morocco Pledge to Strengthen Political and Parliamentary Ties

Baku: Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, met with Mohamed Ghayate, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco, during his visit to Azerbaijan for the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the officials praised the current state of relations between Azerbaijan and Morocco, emphasizing that their bilateral relations, founded on mutual respect, have been particularly successful in the political sphere. They noted the effective cooperation between the two countries within international organizations, highlighting their mutual support and solidarity on various platforms.

The discussions also underlined the significance of interparliamentary cooperation in enhancing the relationship between Azerbaijan and Morocco. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova reflected on her official visit to Morocco and her interactions with Moroccan counterparts at various international events, noting that these exchanges have played a role in strengthening relations.

The Azerbaijani Speaker highlighted the role of friendship groups in the legislative bodies of both countries as a bridge for developing relations. She added that the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two parliaments this year offers promising opportunities for further cooperation.

Both parties also emphasized the collaboration of their parliaments in international parliamentary organizations, including the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network. They noted that Morocco is well-represented at the Network's conferences and places significant importance on its activities.
