Bucharest: The Azerbaijani delegation visiting Romania held a meeting with Claudia Victoria Nicolae, Director General of the Romanian AGERPRES National News Agency, to discuss the enhancement of partnerships between their national news agencies.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting focused on deepening cooperation between Azerbaijan and Romania’s news agencies, expanding information exchange, and implementing joint media projects. Claudia Victoria Nicolae emphasized AGERPRES’s engagement in international news networks, such as the European Alliance of News Agencies and the EU Media Forum, and stressed the importance of fostering relations with Azerbaijan in the information sector.
Vugar Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC), acknowledged the longstanding collaboration between the agencies and highlighted the potential for a reliable partnership in the regional and global information landscape. He identified mutual experience exchange, joint training programs for journalists, and the creation of joint media products as future cooperation areas.
Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, proposed collaboration on new communication technologies like AI to enhance both countries’ media sectors. Ismat Sattarov, Chairman of the Audiovisual Council, emphasized learning from Romania’s experience in regulating audiovisual and digital media platforms.
The meeting also explored the use of AI technologies in photo archive digitization, restoration, and automated classification, with a preliminary agreement on joint pilot projects and practice exchanges. The Azerbaijani delegation learned about the AGERPRES archive, with the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Romania, Gudsi Osmanov, present.
Azerbaijani media officials viewed a historical photo and video collection of AGERPRES, showcasing the rich bilateral relations between the two countries. The collection includes materials from bilateral visits, meetings between heads of state, and cultural events. The parties agreed to organize a joint photo exhibition to highlight the development of Romanian-Azerbaijani relations and their historical friendship.
