Moscow: Azerbaijan and Russia are set to deepen their collaboration in veterinary and phytosanitary controls following a recent discussion initiated by the Russian side. Goshgar Tahmazli, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Food Safety Agency (AFSA), engaged in a telephone conversation with Sergey Dankvert, Head of Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor), to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the conversation centered around mutual agricultural exports, with both parties keen on streamlining export procedures and improving the identification and traceability of livestock exported from Russia to Azerbaijan. They also discussed the integration of veterinary information systems, noting that the phytosanitary integration process has already been completed successfully.
The dialogue extended to potential collaboration in developing and producing veterinary medicines. An agreement was reached for an AFSA delegation to visit Russia to gain insights into the country’s experience in this field. This visit is expected to further strengthen the cooperative ties between the two nations in veterinary and phytosanitary domains.
