Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Security and Solidarity

Istanbul: Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov in Istanbul during an informal meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States. The discussions focused on regional security concerns and strengthening ties between the two nations.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting included an exchange of views on the current security situation in the Middle East and the recent military escalation in the region. A significant point of discussion was the solidarity expressed with Azerbaijan concerning the drone attacks originating from Iranian territory against the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. These attacks resulted in damage to civilian infrastructure and injuries among civilians.

Azerbaijan expressed gratitude for Uzbekistan's support, including statements from the President of Uzbekistan, immediately following the attacks. The talks also covered issues pertaining to the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan allied relations, with an emphasis on maintaining high-level contacts and exploring opportunities for cooperation in various fields.

The ministers further discussed the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, along with prospects for expanding cooperation in political, economic, and regional connectivity areas. Coordination within the Organization of Turkic States was also on the agenda, as both sides exchanged views on mutual interests and other bilateral and regional matters.
