Baku: A document exchange ceremony between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held on July 2, with the participation of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ceremony marked the signing of numerous agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two nations across various sectors.

The presidents signed the Decision of the second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, solidifying their commitment to strengthen bilateral relations. Ministers from both countries exchanged several key documents, reflecting their shared vision for future collaboration.

The exchange included a ‘Practical Action Plan (‘Roadmap’) for the Future Development of Cooperation in the Fields of Agriculture and Food Security for 2025-2027,’ signed by the Ministers of Agriculture from both nations. The Ministers of Digital Development and Transport exchanged a ‘Protocol of Intent on Cooperation in the Fields of Shipping and Shipbuilding,’ while the Ministers of Economy agreed on an ‘Action Plan’ to boost trade turnover to $1 billion by 2030, along with a ‘Program of Industrial Cooperation for 2025-2027.’

Further agreements were made in the fields of science, education, social protection, and environmental protection. The Ministers of Science and Education signed an agreement on cooperation in these areas. The Foreign Ministers exchanged an ‘Action Plan for 2025-2027’ for social protection, along with agreements on economic cooperation and information exchange on mobile devices related to crime.

The document exchange also included protocols on establishing sister city relations and cooperation in developing services for children with special needs and socially vulnerable groups. These protocols aim to foster closer ties at both local and national levels between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
