Baku: Teymur Musayev, Azerbaijan's Minister of Health, recently met with a Vatican delegation led by Titsiano Onesti, President of Bambino Ges¹ Pediatric Hospital. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in healthcare and pediatrics, along with joint initiatives for protecting children's health.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Teymur Musayev highlighted the successful foreign policy under President Ilham Aliyev, facilitating high-level relations between Azerbaijan and the Vatican. He emphasized that the focus on humanitarian and intercultural dialogue significantly strengthens bilateral ties.
Musayev acknowledged the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's projects, led by First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, which have strengthened relations with the Vatican. These projects include the restoration of historical and religious monuments in the Vatican and the development of humanitarian cooperation.
He further elaborated on the recent advancements in Azerbaijan's healthcare system, attributing them to extensive reforms and state programs. The country has developed a modern medical infrastructure, established new hospitals, and expanded digital healthcare solutions. Significant achievements have been made in pediatrics, thalassemia, and maternal and child health.
Musayev noted the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Health, and Bambino Ges¹ Pediatric Hospital. The memorandum aims to facilitate experience exchanges in pediatrics, joint scientific research, professional training for medical staff, and the development of child healthcare services in Azerbaijan. Collaboration with Bambino Ges¹ Pediatric Hospital is expected to enhance Azerbaijan's pediatric services.
Titsiano Onesti praised Azerbaijan's healthcare achievements, particularly in managing thalassemia and other hereditary diseases. He stressed that the memorandum provides a solid foundation for future joint initiatives.
The Vatican delegation is also scheduled to visit the K. Farajov Scientific Research Institute of Pediatrics, the National Hematology and Transfusiology Center, the Scientific Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Azerbaijan Medical University as part of their visit.
