Hanoi — A delegation from Azerbaijan, led by Vugar Suleymanov, Chairman of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA), visited Vietnam to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the field of mine action, APA reports citing ANAMA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the visit focused on exchanging experiences and expanding international collaboration in addressing the challenges posed by landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO). Vietnam, with its long-standing expertise in this area due to its historical issues with landmines, provided valuable insights. Discussions with officials from the Vietnam Mine Action Center and the Quang Tri Mine Action Center covered a range of topics including the exchange of advanced experiences, the development of closer cooperation, and other mutual interests.
The ANAMA delegation shared updates on Azerbaijan’s current challenges with landmines and ongoing efforts in humanitarian demining, including the methodologies employed and training initiatives. This visit is part of a broader initiative to enhance Azerbaijan’s capabilities in mine action through international partnerships, with further meetings scheduled in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
