Azerbaijan Army Commemorates Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and New Year with Nationwide Events

Baku: In line with the plan approved by Azerbaijan's Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Azerbaijan Army organized events across all types of troops, forces, and special educational institutions to mark the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and the New Year on December 31.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the events commenced with a tribute to the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and the Martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland. The ceremonies included the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, accompanied by a military band.

Speeches delivered during the events provided insights into the history and socio-political significance of the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis. This day emphasizes national unity, love for the country, respect for moral values, and a strong sense of devotion to the Motherland.

It was highlighted that on December 16, 1991, during a meeting of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic chaired by Heydar Aliyev, a decision was made to designate December 31 as the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis. Subsequently, the Supreme Assembly appealed to the Supreme Soviet to adopt a corresponding legislative act. On December 25, 1991, the National Council of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Azerbaijan officially declared December 31 as the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis.

The events also underscored the contributions of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the achievements of his successor, President Ilham Aliyev, in advancing the political course set by the National Leader.

Documentary films were screened, and roundtable discussions and quizzes were organized to instill loyalty to the Motherland and the state, along with national and moral values. Concert programs by creative teams from various cultural centers generated enthusiasm among attendees.

Additionally, military personnel visited the families of Martyrs on the eve of the holidays, presenting them with festive gifts.
