Baku: The smuggling of narcotic-containing pills into Azerbaijan has been thwarted, as reported by the Press Center of the State Border Service to APA. Measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state border and to combat the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors are being successfully continued.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, on October 13, border search and operational measures conducted in the service area of the ‘Horadiz’ border detachment of the State Border Service’s Border Troops Command successfully prevented a large quantity of narcotic substances from being smuggled into Azerbaijan from Iran via an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

The search operations led to the discovery and seizure of 980 narcotic-containing Metadon M-40 pills from the border area. Operational-investigative measures are ongoing regarding the incident.
