BAKU—Azerbaijan has completed construction of its first railway gallery since gaining independence, located on the 75th kilometer of the Horadiz-Aghband railway line, marking a significant milestone in the country’s infrastructure development. The gallery was built to protect the railway from potential rockfalls from the surrounding mountains.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, head of the press office department of “Azerbaijan Railways” LLC, the newly constructed gallery measures 144 meters in length and is designed with future electrification of the railway line in mind. The gallery is supported by piles and constructed from monolithic reinforced concrete, ensuring long-term durability.
