Baku: Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed discontent over recent comments made by Maria Zakharova, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, regarding the former Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict. Aykhan Hajizade, Spokesperson for Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responded to a local media inquiry, accusing Zakharova of distorting reality.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Hajizade emphasized that the Garabagh region has consistently been recognized by the international community, including Russia, as an integral part of Azerbaijan. He criticized the persistent discussions about applying the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) mechanisms to Azerbaijan's sovereign territories, which were under Armenian occupation for nearly three decades. Hajizade stated that such discussions are baseless and contradict Russia's official stance on the Garabagh region.

Furthermore, Hajizade asserted that Azerbaijan has restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty in line with international law, effectively resolving the former conflict. He urged that the practice of associating issues related to Russia-Armenia relations with Azerbaijan should cease.
