Azerbaijan Defense Minister Engages in Talks with Saudi Arabian Military Delegation


Baku: The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, held a meeting with a delegation led by Saudi Arabia’s Chief of General Staff, General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili. The delegation is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, as reported by APA citing the ministry.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Minister of Defense expressed his satisfaction with the visit, underscoring the friendly and brotherly ties between Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the importance that Azerbaijan’s leadership places on the development of these relations. General Al-Ruwaili expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to him and acknowledged the critical role such visits play in expanding military relations.



The discussions focused on the current state and future development of cooperation in military, military-technical, and military-educational spheres, along with a comprehensive exchange of views on regional security issues. The official welcoming ceremony included a ceremonial passage in front of the guard of honor, performances of the national anthems of both countries, and the signing of the Book of Honor.



First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, also engaged with the Saudi delegation. Both parties expressed confidence in the further development of cooperation based on mutual trust and support, emphasizing the importance of exchanging experiences between the nations.



The meeting concluded with discussions on expanding military cooperation and other mutual interests. The Saudi delegation was briefed on reforms in the Azerbaijan Army under President Ilham Aliyev’s leadership, including innovations, the Patriotic War, and other successful military operations. The guests received detailed information about control points and had their questions answered.
