Baku: New requirements are being established for news agencies in Azerbaijan, APA reports. This development was highlighted in a proposed amendment to the Law on Media, which was discussed during the recent session of the Milli Majlis.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the draft amendment stipulates that an information agency must maintain agreements for providing or obtaining information with at least 20 media entities. Additionally, these agencies are required to have journalists accredited in at least five foreign countries. Furthermore, it mandates that for at least 20 days each month, a minimum of 80% of the daily mass information published must adhere to the requirements outlined in Article 60.5 of this law.

Article 60.5 specifies that the operation of an online media entity is deemed continuous if it publishes at least 20 pieces of mass information daily for 20 days each month. Following discussions, the draft law was adopted in its third reading.
