Azerbaijan Deploys Helicopters to Battle Fire Amid Explosions in Aghdam and Aghdara

Baku: Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations has deployed two helicopters to tackle a fire that erupted in the Aghdam and Aghdara districts. The fire, reported via the ‘112’ hotline, is affecting the villages of Aliaghali and Yeni Garalar in Aghdam, and Sirkhavend in Aghdara. The Ministry’s forces were immediately dispatched to the scene to prevent the fire from spreading further.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Aviation Unit’s helicopters and the State Fire Protection Service’s forces are actively engaged in firefighting efforts. The operation is being hampered by windy weather, which is intensifying the flames. Despite ongoing efforts, the fire remains uncontained.

The blaze has been further complicated by five explosions in the affected areas, primarily in the Aghdara district. Three explosions were recorded in the evening, with two occurring shortly before. The explosions are believed to have been caused by mines and unexploded ordnance present in the region.

In response to the emergency, the Ministry has deployed four pieces of special equipment and approximately 50 personnel to the scene. Firefighting measures continue as authorities work to control the situation.
