Baku: An attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic drugs into Azerbaijan has been thwarted, as reported by Azerbaijan's State Border Service to APA. Measures to protect the state border and combat smuggling, along with the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors, are being effectively continued.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, on September 6, border search and operational measures conducted in the service area of the 'Horadiz' border detachment resulted in the discovery of 38 kilograms 778 grams of narcotic drugs and 7,680 Methadone M-40 tablets containing psychotropic substances. At 01:30, authorities found 21 kilograms 700 grams of narcotic drugs and 1,000 Methadone M-40 tablets, which had been transported from Iran to Azerbaijan by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), in the service area of the border detachment and successfully removed them from illegal circulation.

Later, at 04:10, an additional 17 kilograms 78 grams of narcotic drugs and 6,680 Methadone M-40 tablets were discovered, having been transported by paraglider. These were also removed from illegal circulation. Operational and investigative efforts regarding these incidents are ongoing.
