Baku: Azerbaijan has embarked on the development of new topographic maps utilizing the World Geodetic Coordination System and G84, as announced by Lieutenant General Azer Aliyev, Chief of the Main Operations Department of the Ministry of Defense. The announcement was made during the 2nd Meeting of the Heads of Mapping Agencies of the Organization of Turkic States.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Azerbaijan is advancing its digital army concept, with digital maps being a key component. The creation of a geographic information system is deemed essential. Aliyev highlighted the importance of unifying the efforts of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in this domain. The implementation of maps adhering to unified standards is crucial and aligns with the shared interests of the OTS members.
