Baku: Concessions for passengers affected by changes in flight schedules have been established, as outlined in the “Rules for the Implementation of Commercial Air Transport, Passenger, Baggage, Cargo, and Mail Transportation by Air,” approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. This development aims to address inconveniences faced by passengers when carriers are unable to transport them as initially planned.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the new regulations stipulate several complimentary services for passengers when flight schedules are altered, except in cases of force majeure. The services include access to mother-and-child rooms for passengers traveling with children under seven years old. Passengers experiencing flight delays of more than two hours are entitled to make two phone calls or send two emails and receive soft drinks.
For delays exceeding six hours during the day or eight hours at night, passengers will be provided with a hot meal. In instances where flights are delayed for more than eight hours, passengers will receive hotel accommodation, including free transportation between the airport and the hotel. Additionally, baggage storage arrangements will be made available.
The regulations also mention that carriers or service providers can offer additional paid services for higher comfort levels. It is specified that children under five must travel with an accompanying adult, and the transportation of children aged 5 to 18 will follow the carrier’s specific rules.
