Baku: Azerbaijan’s legal authorities have taken a significant step by issuing arrest warrants for bloggers Tural Sadigli and Ordukhan Teymurkhan, as well as Elshad Abdullayev, the former rector of Azerbaijan International University. These individuals have been summoned for investigation under in absentia proceedings by the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the submissions made by the Prosecutor General’s Office were presented to the Binagadi District Court, which subsequently upheld them. As a result, the court decided to impose a pretrial detention measure against Sadigli, Teymurkhan, and Abdullayev.
Furthermore, it is anticipated that the Prosecutor General’s Office will soon move to impose pretrial detention on additional individuals who have been summoned in absentia. This development signals a broader legal action that may involve more accused persons in the near future.
