Azerbaijan: Azerbaijan is positioning itself as a potential hub for data centers and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, driven by its competitive energy supply, as highlighted by Pattabi Seshadri, Managing Director and Senior Partner at Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Speaking at the Baku Energy Forum during a session titled 'Leaders' Perspectives on Energy Transformation and Future Strategies,' Seshadri underscored the country's potential in these rapidly growing sectors.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, approximately 75 gigawatts of new AI and data center capacity are anticipated to be launched globally by 2030. Seshadri pointed out that every 1-gigawatt data center necessitates an investment of about $50 billion, with global competition in this arena escalating swiftly. He posed a strategic question regarding Azerbaijan's potential role in this sector, emphasizing the importance of competitive energy supply and expeditious project execution.
The BCG executive suggested that data centers might evolve into a novel form of energy exports for nations. He further stressed that the effective deployment of AI technologies is contingent not only on technological advancements but also on the availability of skilled human capital and the reorganization of management processes. Seshadri highlighted the necessity of integrating AI tools into daily activities and reengineering business processes to maximize their benefits.
