BP’s ACG Deep Gas Project Could Unlock Future Billion-Dollar Investments

Baku: BP has announced that the deep gas project being implemented at the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field block could potentially lead to investments worth billions of dollars in the future.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, BP's Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Trkiye, Giovanni Cristofoli, shared that the company has commenced operations of the first non-associated gas (NAG) production well at ACG.

Cristofoli revealed to journalists that the first production well under the ACG deep gas project was launched recently, and another well is expected to be operational soon. He explained that BP will be analyzing the production and geological data gathered during the project's next phase to assess further opportunities.

He stressed that the evaluation of this data could potentially unlock investments worth billions of dollars, focusing on the development of the gas resources located beneath the ACG reservoirs. Cristofoli highlighted that successful project outcomes could significantly boost Azerbaijan's gas production capabilities.

Notably, ACG is recognized as the largest oil field block in Azerbaijan, with BP operating the site. The deep gas project aims to commercially assess the gas resources beneath the field's oil-bearing reservoirs.
