Azerbaijan Prioritizes Efficient Resource Use in New Agricultural Program

Guba: Presidential aide Zeynal Naghdaliyev emphasized that efficient use of water and land resources is a central focus of Azerbaijan's new State Program during a regional meeting in Guba, as reported by APA. The 'State Program for the Development of Production and Processing of Agricultural, Fisheries and Aquaculture Products in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026-2030' outlines specific targets aimed at enhancing productivity and efficiency in the agriculture sector.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Naghdaliyev highlighted the program's goals, which include expanding modern irrigation systems, increasing productivity in wheat and cotton farming, expanding intensive orchards and greenhouse complexes, and enhancing the capacities of cold storage and grain silos. Improving livestock breeding and increasing the production of poultry meat, milk, beef, mutton, eggs, and aquaculture are also key priorities.

Naghdaliyev noted the importance of introducing modern irrigation systems and improving on-farm irrigation networks, alongside public awareness efforts about water use. He stressed that achieving these targets requires the joint efforts of all implementing institutions, focusing on productivity, efficiency, and added value.

The program anticipates more than AZN 2 billion in state funding, with an additional AZN 3 billion expected from the private sector. Naghdaliyev urged immediate implementation of the program, emphasizing coordinated activities between central and local executive authorities and the mobilization of private sector investment and management capabilities to meet the objectives within the designated timeframe set by President Ilham Aliyev.
