Baku: Azerbaijan experienced a significant rise in the average monthly nominal wage for employees last year, with an increase of 8.1 percent compared to the previous year. The average salary reached 1,009.2 manat, marking a noteworthy development in the nation’s economic landscape.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the State Statistical Committee has highlighted that the highest average monthly nominal wages were observed in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, professional, scientific and technical activities, as well as the information and communications sectors. These sectors have shown remarkable wage growth, reflecting their critical roles in the economy.
As of January 1, 2025, preliminary data indicated that the number of employees working for wages in Azerbaijan’s economy stood at 1,778.5 thousand people. Of this workforce, 882.8 thousand individuals were employed in the state sector, while 895.7 thousand worked in the non-state sector. This distribution showcases the employment balance between the state and private sectors in the country.
Further analysis revealed that 18.5 percent of salaried employees were engaged in trade and vehicle repair, another 18.5 percent in education, 13.5 percent in industry, 8.5 percent in healthcare and social services, 6.6 percent in construction, and 6.3 percent in public administration and defense, along with social security. Additionally, 4.3 percent of the workforce was involved in transport and warehousing, 3.8 percent in professional, scientific and technical activities, 2.7 percent in agriculture, forestry and fishing, 2.2 percent in finance and insurance activities, and 15.1 percent in other sectors of the economy.
