Baku: Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs marked the 33rd anniversary of the Bashlibel tragedy with a solemn post on its X account, recalling the events of April 18, 1993, when 18 Azerbaijani civilians from Bashlibel village were killed. The villagers had been hiding in mountain caves for 18 days following the destruction of their village during the occupation of Kalbajar. Additionally, 14 others from the village were taken hostage.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ministry's post highlighted that this atrocity was part of a larger campaign of violence, ethnic cleansing, and aggression against Azerbaijani civilians. The post stressed the importance of remembering such grave crimes against humanity and honored the memory of the victims of the Bashlibel Massacre.
