Baku: The number of human trafficking crimes identified last year has been disclosed, APA reports. This information comes from the 'Annual Report of the National Coordinator for Combating Human Trafficking,' discussed during a joint meeting of the Human Rights, Legal Policy, and State Building Committees of the Milli Majlis.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, 198 crimes were identified through operational-search measures conducted last year in the field of detecting human trafficking crimes and bringing perpetrators to justice. This figure represents a decrease of 8 crimes compared to the previous year. In 2025, 57 of these crimes involved the use of information technologies.
Additionally, 152 human trafficking crimes were recorded in 2025, which is 9 fewer than in 2024. Last year, there were also 45 crimes related to illegal actions involving documents for human trafficking purposes, which is 1 more than in 2024.
Operational measures led to the resolution of 97% of human trafficking crimes, and two criminal groups were neutralized, implicating six individuals. Ten criminal cases were initiated in connection with these crimes. During the investigation of one criminal case, nearly 20 facts were examined. In 8 criminal cases, 10 individuals, including 9 women, were charged, and 12 individuals, including 11 women, faced court proceedings.
