Baku: Azerbaijan’s revenues from sea freight transportation saw a significant increase in the first half of this year, reaching 130,079 thousand manats. This marks a 19.4% rise compared to the same period in 2024, which recorded revenues of 108,971.9 thousand manats.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, revenues specifically from freight transportation by sea amounted to 129,956 thousand manats. This is a 20.2% increase compared to the January-June period of the previous year, which saw revenues of 108,151.9 thousand manats.
Passenger transportation by sea, however, experienced a decline. In the first half of the current year, revenues from this sector amounted to 123 thousand manats, reflecting an 85% decrease from the 820 thousand manats recorded during the same period last year.
Azerbaijan transported 4,611.5 thousand tons of cargo and 12.8 thousand passengers by sea from January to June 2025. This represents an 11.8% increase in cargo transportation and a 4.5% decrease in passenger transportation in an annual comparison.
