Azerbaijan Sees Significant Boost in Agricultural Production and Export Potential

Guba: Production and export potential in Azerbaijan's cotton, tobacco, viticulture, and winemaking sectors have seen a significant increase due to enhanced state support for agriculture. Zeynal Naghdaliyev, Assistant to the President and Head of the Territorial and Organizational Issues Department, highlighted these developments during a regional meeting in Guba.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the country has achieved full self-sufficiency in fruits, vegetables, and eggs, with positive trends in self-sufficiency for meat, milk, fish, and potato products. Major projects have been implemented to improve irrigation, including the construction of large reservoirs and the modernization of irrigation systems.

Efforts have also focused on renewing the agricultural machinery fleet and bringing additional land into cultivation. In line with presidential directives, 169,100 hectares of land previously unused have been returned to cultivation, and 52 agroparks have been established across 32 districts.

These agroparks are crucial in promoting entrepreneurship, producing competitive agricultural products, reducing import dependence, and boosting employment. Direct subsidies to agricultural producers have been instrumental in driving the sector's comprehensive development, supporting regional specialization, and emphasizing sustainable practices.
