Baku: In January-September of this year, a total of 85,257 vehicles worth 1 billion 605 million 020 thousand US dollars were imported into Azerbaijan, the State Customs Committee told APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this represents increases of 26.5% in quantity and 28.6% in value compared to the same period last year. During the first nine months, 12,555 hybrid vehicles worth 263 million 999 thousand US dollars were imported into Azerbaijan, reflecting a 2.8% decrease in numbers but a 17.2% increase in value year-on-year.

The period also saw a significant rise in the importation of plug-in hybrid vehicles. The value of these imports surged 3.5 times, reaching 604 million 619 thousand US dollars, while the number of units imported increased 6.4 times to 31,873 units.

In contrast, the import of fully electric vehicles decreased during this period. A total of 1,559 electric vehicles worth 48 million 210 thousand US dollars were imported, marking a year-on-year decline of 45.6% in quantity and 30.6% in value.
