Azerbaijan Sets Guidelines for Foreign Access to Aquatic Bioresources

Baku: Foreign individuals and legal entities now have a clear procedure for utilizing fish and other aquatic bioresources within Azerbaijan's water bodies. This development was reported by APA during a recent plenary session of the Milli Majlis, where the new draft Law "On Fisheries" was discussed and adopted.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the draft law outlines that entities from foreign states can engage in the use of aquatic bioresources in Azerbaijan, provided they adhere to the procedures established by Azerbaijan's normative legal acts, international treaties to which Azerbaijan is a signatory, as well as other international legal norms. The designated body or institution, appointed by the relevant executive authority, will determine the rights and procedures for such use.

The draft law was presented for a vote during the session and successfully passed in the third reading, marking a significant step in regulating the access and use of Azerbaijan's aquatic resources by foreign parties.
