Kuching: The Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB), along with four local tourism industry partners, represented Azerbaijan at the PATA Travel Mart (PTM) 2026 in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. This event marked a significant opportunity for Azerbaijan to present its tourism offerings to a global audience of travel professionals.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, PTM 2026, a leading travel trade exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region, provided a platform for Azerbaijan to highlight its diverse tourism products and opportunities. With a national stand, Azerbaijan engaged in business meetings with potential partners from key international markets, promoting its position as a notable tourism destination.
The event attracted tourism companies specializing in various segments such as leisure and luxury travel, business events (MICE), and more. Participants included tourism agencies, tour operators, and industry representatives from Europe, the CIS, South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East, East Asia, Africa, and the Pacific region.
Discussions during the event focused on promoting Azerbaijan, exploring new cooperation opportunities, and strengthening existing partnerships with international travel industry representatives. The ATB's presence at PTM 2026 was followed by participation in the World Islamic Tourism and Trade Expo (WITEX 2026) in Kuala Lumpur.
Organized by the Malaysia Tourism Agency Association (MATA), WITEX 2026 brought together government representatives, tourism industry leaders, and international stakeholders. The event facilitated business networking and idea exchange within the Islamic tourism sector. It also highlighted the growing halal tourism sector, showcasing halal-friendly travel experiences, products, and services worldwide, along with exploring tourism software solutions and connecting with suppliers.
Azerbaijan's participation in these significant events bolstered its engagement with the Southeast Asian tourism market, supported the development of new international business partnerships, and increased the visibility of Azerbaijan's tourism offerings among travel industry professionals in the region.
