Baku: The renewable energy potential in Azerbaijan currently stands at 27 gigawatts, with plans to increase this capacity, said Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology, Sadig Gurbanov. His remarks were made during a round table discussion as part of the “Baku Climate Action Week.”

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Gurbanov highlighted that 23 out of the 27 gigawatts come from solar energy, which currently represents 7-8% of the country’s total energy balance. With the establishment of a new energy zone in Karabakh and East Zangezur, Azerbaijan aims to boost this contribution to 30% by 2030.
