Baku: Individuals with disabilities due to the Chernobyl disaster are set to receive expedited housing in Azerbaijan, as announced by Musa Guliyev, Chairman of the Labour and Social Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament). This development was revealed during discussions on proposed amendments to the law concerning the status and social protection of those affected by the Chernobyl accident, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the committee chairman highlighted that while the primary focus has previously been on housing internally displaced persons, the new efforts will prioritize providing housing for those disabled by the Chernobyl incident. These individuals have been placed on a waiting list to ensure they receive housing quickly.

Musa Guliyev further explained the changes since the law’s adoption, noting that one-time benefits have transitioned to a Presidential pension. Additionally, disabled individuals receive pensions corresponding to their level of disability, along with an annual benefit for treatment.
