Baku: From today, citizens of Japan and the Republic of Korea can travel to Azerbaijan without a visa. In a move aimed at facilitating travel, enhancing bilateral cooperation, and promoting tourism, the visa requirement for ordinary passport holders from these countries has been abolished. The State Migration Service announced that this exemption will be in effect from July 1, 2026, to July 1, 2027.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, citizens of Japan and the Republic of Korea will be allowed to enter Azerbaijan visa-free three times during this period, with each visit not exceeding 30 days. However, those intending to visit for non-tourism purposes or stay beyond this duration must obtain the appropriate visa in line with Azerbaijani law.
Foreigners staying in Azerbaijan for more than 15 days must register at their place of stay according to the Migration Code. Additionally, if necessary, foreigners should apply to the State Migration Service before their temporary stay expires to extend the period or obtain a temporary residence permit. This can be done in person at ASAN Service centers or electronically via the official website's 'Electronic Services' section.
