Istanbul: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in Istanbul during the informal meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the discussions centered on the security situation in the Middle East, highlighting the rising tensions and their potential impact on regional stability.
The ministers issued a strong condemnation of the missile launch from Iran targeting Turkey and the drone attacks on Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. They emphasized that such actions violate international law norms and escalate regional tensions, complicating the security landscape.
Bayramov expressed gratitude for the swift support from Turkey, including statements from the Turkish President, following the attacks. He also appreciated the temporary use of Igdir Airport to maintain safe air travel routes between mainland Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan.
The foreign ministers discussed strategies for cooperation and coordination based on the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Turkey, as well as upcoming high-level visits. Other regional and international issues of shared interest were also on the agenda.
