New delhi: A delegation of the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency attended an international conference organized by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as part of its Global Anti-Doping Intelligence and Investigations Network (GAIIN) in New Delhi. The AMADA delegation included Chief Executive Officer Tahmina Taghi-zada and Head of the Results Management and Investigation Department Nijat Amiraslanli.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the conference brought together representatives from the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (EUROPOL), as well as national anti-doping agencies from up to 70 countries. Discussions at the event emphasized that the fight against doping is no longer confined to laboratory analyses and testing, but now includes a comprehensive approach based on global investigations and law enforcement cooperation. Participants highlighted the necessity of international cooperation for an effective fight against doping.
The conference also provided participants with updates on the latest phase of the GAIIN project, particularly focusing on the ongoing 'Operation Upstream' investigation. This large-scale international operation has involved more than 20 countries and has resulted in the seizure of several tons of performance-enhancing drugs through a complex transcontinental investigation coordinated by WADA, INTERPOL, and Europol.
