Azerbaijani Director’s Short Film Earns Spot at Cannes Film Festival

Baku: The short film “Green Grass,” directed and written by Nurlan Hasanli, has earned the opportunity to be showcased at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. The film, which is still in production, emerged victorious in the pitching competition at the Linz Film Talent Academy in Austria.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Linz Film Talent Academy is an initiative that supports young filmmakers by aiding the development of short and debut feature films with strong artistic visions. This platform provides filmmakers the chance to present their works to the international film market.

“Green Grass” narrates the tragicomic tale of a tourist guide from Baku and his wife as they contemplate migrating to the United States. The film’s selection for Cannes highlights the international recognition of emerging Azerbaijani talent in the cinematic arts.
