Azerbaijani FM: Pashinyan’s contradictory remarks call the future of peace process into question

On September 13, a roundtable discussion on the topic of "Regional security and cooperation of Azerbaijan with Central Asian countries" was jointly organized with the Global Studies Institute of the University of Geneva as part of the working visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov to the Swiss Confederation, the Ministry told APA.

In the discussions, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov delivered a speech on foreign policy priorities of Azerbaijan, prospects for relations with neighboring countries, current regional security issues, challenges and opportunities.

Highlighting the connection of the South Caucasus and Central Asian regions, including the ongoing regional processes, FM Bayramov said that intensity has been observed in the development of relations both on a bilateral format and within the multilateral platforms.

Stressing the regional security issues, Jeyhun Bayramov asserted that Armenia's acts, which endanger the current fragile normalization and peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia, are a threat to stability in the region. In this regard, on the one hand, groundless claims related to the "tense humanitarian situation" and the existence of a "blockade" in the area around the Lachin road, and on the other hand, rejection of the proposals to use the Aghdam-Khankandi and Lachin roads of Azerbaijan simultaneously, to meet the needs of the residents of Armenian origin living in the Garabagh region is just one of the examples of this country's contradictory steps.

In this regard, the importance of correct understanding by the international community of the processes in the region and the regional situation, as well as the importance of condemning Armenia's unstable behavior that undermines the peace process, was pointed out.
