Baku: On December 11, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made a phone call to Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, APA reports. The head of state congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, wishing success to brotherly Turkmenistan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Ilham Aliyev noted that December 12 marks the day of remembrance for the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan, and as such, he would not be able to attend the events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality. The head of state emphasized that the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan would participate in these events.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed gratitude for the recent visit of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, to Turkmenistan and the hospitality extended to the Azerbaijani delegation. He described the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship as a sign of cooperation between the two countries.

Aliyev also conveyed his appreciation for Turkmenistan’s support for Azerbaijan’s participation in the Consultative Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia. He asked to extend his greetings and congratulations on the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked President Aliyev for the phone call and greetings. He expressed condolences on the death anniversary of Heydar Aliyev, recognizing his significant role in developing relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

Berdimuhamedov praised Leyla Aliyeva’s visit to Turkmenistan and her meeting with Oguljahan Atabayeva, noting the importance of the signed document. He congratulated Azerbaijan on becoming a full participant in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, highlighting Turkmenistan’s consistent support on this matter.

During their conversation, Aliyev and Berdimuhamedov also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and future contacts.
