Azerbaijani President Dismisses Claims on Zangezur Corridor as Baseless

Baku: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has firmly rejected claims regarding Azerbaijan's intentions towards the Zangezur Corridor, labeling them as unfounded narratives propagated by certain advisors. In an interview with Al Arabiya TV channel, APA reports that President Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan's policies are based on the decisions of elected Iranian officials, particularly the president, and not on the advice of former officials now serving as advisors.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev clarified that Azerbaijan's interstate relations with Iran are centered on formal government channels, involving presidents and foreign ministers, thereby dismissing the significance of narratives from unofficial sources. He reiterated that the Zangezur Corridor poses no threat to Iran and refuted speculations circulating in media and online platforms about Azerbaijan's alleged plans to occupy Zangezur or alter the Iranian-Armenian border. Aliyev pointed out that if such actions were intended, they could have been easily executed in November 2020, emphasizing that Azerbaijan had no inclination towards such military measures.
