Baku: Yusuf Karimli, an Azerbaijani student currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Hong Kong (HKU), shared insights into his educational journey, student life, and aspirations in an exclusive interview with AZERTAC. Karimli, who is also undertaking a summer internship with the Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), discussed the impact of studying in Hong Kong and his experiences in the engineering field.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Karimli described his studies in Hong Kong as both challenging and rewarding, emphasizing the global impact and transformative education HKU offers. He highlighted the university's focus on innovation and interdisciplinary learning. Actively engaged in various initiatives within the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Karimli emphasized the importance of collaboration between students and academic staff in making meaningful progress.
Karimli has been involved in several extracurricular activities, contributing to HKU's vibrant campus life. He organized a student-led NanoTalk and participated in sustainability initiatives, demonstrating leadership and commitment to community engagement. Additionally, he holds a position as the Current Affairs Secretary of the University Hall Student Association, where he works to uphold the traditions and community spirit of HKU.
Living in Hong Kong has been a positive experience for Karimli, who appreciates the city's climate, cuisine, and multicultural environment. He noted the supportive Azerbaijani student community in Hong Kong, which has enriched his experience and fostered plans for future networking and cultural events to promote Azerbaijan and strengthen ties between the regions.
