Azerbaijan’s Balance of Payments Deficit Reaches $1.1 Billion in Nine Months

Baku: Azerbaijan’s balance of payments recorded a deficit of 1.1 billion USD in the third quarter of 2025.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this information was disclosed during a press conference organized by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, which focused on the balance of payments results for the first nine months of the year.

In contrast, the balance of payments for the corresponding period in 2024 showed a surplus of 181.6 million USD. The country’s strategic currency assets were reported to be 81.5 billion USD during this period.

The balance of current operations showed a surplus of 3 billion USD, a decrease from the 4 billion USD surplus recorded in the first nine months of 2024. Additionally, the average price of crude oil during the reporting period was 70 USD per barrel, compared to 86 USD per barrel in the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, the price of natural gas rose by 12% to 294 USD per thousand cubic meters.
