Azerbaijan’s BEU and China’s Fudan University Forge Academic Partnership

Baku: Yagub Piriyev, Rector of the Baku Engineering University (BEU), met with a delegation from China's Fudan University, marking a significant step in educational cooperation between the two institutions.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Rector Yagub Piriyev emphasized the importance of the relationship between Azerbaijan and China, driven by the mutual trust and friendship between President Ilham Aliyev and President Xi Jinping. This relationship has been instrumental in enhancing strategic partnerships, especially in education and science. BEU is committed to expanding its cooperative ventures with Chinese universities, focusing on student and faculty exchanges, joint research, dual degree programs, and innovative projects. The ongoing collaboration with Beijing University of Chemical Technology under a dual degree program was highlighted as a successful model.

Ms. Tian Xiaohong, representing Fudan University, expressed her satisfaction with the partnership with BEU, noting it as a pioneer collaboration among Azerbaijani universities. She praised the warm reception and shared positive impressions of Baku. Fudan University, established in 1905 in Shanghai, is a leading research university in China, excelling in engineering, information technology, AI, and biomedicine. It ranks 30th in the QS 2026 global university rankings.

The discussions covered joint projects in engineering, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, energy, and sustainable development, aiming to deepen academic and scientific cooperation. Both sides agreed to continue their collaboration and explore specific areas for practical implementation.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between BEU and Fudan University, along with agreements with the Zhangjiang Institute and Zhongshan Translational Research Center for Immunotherapy Technologies.
