According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Azerbaijan is a strong supporter of multilateral diplomacy and cooperation. The nation has been an active member of the Global South and remains committed to fostering these ideals. The country has achieved significant milestones in recent years, including successful chairmanships of key institutions like the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

Azerbaijan is set to host several important international events in 2026, such as the World Urban Forum (WUF13), a meeting for the 10th anniversary of the Islamic Development Bank, World Environment Day (WED26), and the CICA summit. These events highlight Azerbaijan's dedication to multilateral diplomacy and its growing reputation as a reliable partner globally.

Azerbaijan's leadership in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) marked a significant achievement in multilateral diplomacy. The country continues to support the agreements made at COP29 and remains committed to sustainable development and climate diplomacy, with plans to host the Regional Climate Week in 2026.

Baku is increasingly recognized as a hub for multilateral diplomacy and cooperation. Recent decisions have established the headquarters of the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organization and the ECO Clean Energy Center in the city. Moreover, a historic decision was made to establish the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network headquarters in Baku during a conference held in Istanbul.

Azerbaijan advocates for fair geographical representation in international organizations and prioritizes the representation of its citizens in these bodies. In 2025, Azerbaijan achieved successful results in its candidacies to 14 significant international institutions.
