Baku: In 2025, the surplus of Azerbaijan's current account of the balance of payments amounted to $3.5 billion. This figure represents a 24% decrease compared to 2024, when the country's current account surplus totaled $4.6 billion, according to Samir Nasirov, Director of the Statistics Department of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan. Nasirov shared these figures during a recent briefing.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Nasirov highlighted that the share of the current account in GDP was 4.6%. He further noted that the size of the current account surplus recorded last year is seen as beneficial for macroeconomic stability.
Previously, during a press conference, Central Bank Chairman Taleh Kazimov indicated that Azerbaijan's current account surplus is projected to reach $3.7 billion by the end of 2025.
