Azerbaijan’s External Public Debt Declines to 6.3% of GDP

Baku: Azerbaijan's external public debt stood at 4 billion 813.5 million dollars as of January 1, 2026, which represents 6.3 percent of the projected GDP of 129 billion 94 million manats ($75 billion 937.006 million) for the year 2025.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the external public debt saw a reduction of 316.2 million dollars, or 6.2%, compared to the beginning of 2025. This decrease highlights a positive trend in managing the nation's financial obligations.

Furthermore, as of January 1, 2026, the ratio of external public debt to GDP showed an improvement, declining by 0.6 percentage points compared to the start of the previous year. This change indicates a more stable economic environment and effective fiscal management by the government.
